First stop: Louisiana! Home of crawfish, jazz, and the ever so famous New Orlean's Mardi Gras! After we had driven through most of Florida (including the long drive through the Florida Pan Handle), the marsh and swamp lands of Alabama and Mississippi, we were pretty much ready to stop in Louisiana. It had taken about 9 hrs. in driving time to drive from Florida to Slidell, Lousiana, which was a suburb of New Orleans. We were all completely pooped! (Well, except for me!) I had so much energy from being cooped in the car most of the day and since I'm still pure puppy, I was jumping off the beds, smelling lots of new smells, and most of all I barked numerous times, which my family was not proud of at all! Let's just say I wasn't the most well behaved pooch that night, but hey I needed to burn most of that energy up from being stuck in the car most of the day. What can I tell you, I'm still a puppy who needs his excercise for the day! Ha Ha!!!
After a good night's sleep (on my very own hotel bed! I know I'm spoiled!) we got some breakfast and decided to head over to New Orleans. I had no clue where we were going! This whole road trip was a new experience for me.
When you see New Orleans for the first time, it's definitely a strange looking city. With all of these high balconies and long roads. Florida looks way different from New Orleans. I can tell you that! Unfortunately for us, we came to New Orleans on one of the hottest days of the year! Yuck! And with all of my fluffy fur, I was sweating a lot! It was like wearing a heavy winter coat while you're stuck in the blazing Lousiana sun!
In order to cool off, we all decided to take a tour of New Orleans in a mule drawn carriage. Yes, you read this right, we took a mule drawn carriage ride instead of a horse drawn carriage ride. Yep, I got right up close and personal with a real mule! I was a bit scared/worried at first cause I didn't quite know what this very large creature was exactly, but then once I got in the carriage everything was fine. i think we toured New Orleans for about a half hour with Poncho the mule and his owner. Even though it was hot outside, we were shaded by the carriage!
Once we got off of the carriage, we were all hungry, a bit tired, and still sweating to death (especially me!). so, my family decided to find a restaurant where they could find authentic New Orleans/Cajun food such as the good ol' famous Po Boys! Man, do I wish that i could have had one of those! We eventually, stopped at a restaurant that allowed dogs in their bar (lucky for me because it was air conditioned!). But, the air conditioning wasn't the best part about the restaurant! The best part was that the bar tender gave me this HUGE bucket filled cold water and big ice cubes. I just dunked my face in the water. It was the best feeling ever! However, I was dripping wet when we did get back into the car, but hey i'm dog and that's what dogs do! Ha ha!!!
New Orleans was fun and interesting, but we had to keep on going in order to make it to Colorado!

On the Road!
I guess I should share my travel stories with everyone by first talking about the road trip to Colorado. We started in Florida, my home state so that we could get all the way to Colorado, which is where we are staying for about six weeks. If this sounds to you like a long road trip, then you are most certainly right! It ended up taking my family and myself three and a half days or 33 hours from Florida to Colorado (not including our stops!) So yeah, it did take us awhile, but we all made the best of it! We played games, laughed a lot, slept, watched the scenery, used our new DVD player to watch movies, and just had a good ol' time as a family! Although it was fun being in the car with everyone, we did often feel a bit cooped up, so we decided to explore some of the places that we passed by... (to be continued)
